Rob Pannell Wins Player of They Year & Tewaaraton Award

Northstar Lacrosse Co-Camp Director Rob Pannell

This season Pannell leads Cornell with 102 points (47G, 55A), second overall in points in DI lacrosse. In the NCAA Semifinal game against Duke, Pannell passed Duke's Matt Danowski as the NCAA's all-time points leader, finishing his career with 354 points. He scored five goals and two assists as the Big Red's comeback bid fell short to the National Champs.

Pannell edged Tewaaraton finalists Marcus Holman (North Carolina), JoJo Marasco (Syracuse), Tom Schreiber (Princeton), and Lyle Thompson (Albany).

Pannell is a Smithtown, N.Y., native has had a roller coaster journey to greatness that has been well-documented by the lacrosse community. Pannell flew under the radar as a recruit at Smithtown West and initially committed to Quinnipiac. Plans quickly changed and he decided to enrolled in a post-graduate year at Deerfield Academy before landing at Cornell.

After his 2011 junior campaign he won the Enners and earn a Tewaaraton finalist nod. His 2012 campaign came to a screeching holt because of a foot injury. Pannell chose not to graduate so he could return for a fifth year at Cornell. Which was a difficult decision for Pannell but with his commitment and hard work paid off huge.

After his final year at Cornell, Pannell became the No. 1 overall MLL Collegiate draft pick and was drafted by the New York Lizards. Pannell joins former Big Red teammate and Camp Director for Northstar Lacrosse Max Seibald.

In Pannell’s MLL debut against the Charlotte Hounds wasted no time scoring three goals and one assist. There is no doubt that Rob Pannell is going to make a great impact for the New York Lizards and the MLL.

The Camp will also be featuring New York Lizards goalie Drew Adams, Big Red’s Steve Mock, Rob Pannell’s brother James Pannell from V.A., Denver Outlaw’s Sean Delaney, and Minnesota native and former Big Red player Ryan Hurley.
